Wave Flume
Mission
The goal of the Coastal Hydraulics Laboratory is to support investigators in pursuit
of their studies to answer specific research questions in coastal engineering and
science. This major facility is a recirculating wave-current flume that is 22.7m long
(17.5m testing section), 1.5m wide, and 1.0m deep. The testing section has glass walls
and steel bed. Wave heights more than 0.4m and flow rates up to 110l/s can be produced,
and sophisticated instrumentation is available. This facility is capable of modeling
wave-structure interactions, sediment transport, wave transformations, morphological
response, and other research requirements. Click here for a flyer giving more information on the wave flume facility.
