6.9 Tobacco Free Campus
The University of South Alabama’s 100% Tobacco-Free Campus Policy went into effect on August 1, 2015, ensuring that the University will be a healthier, tobacco-free environment.
The 100% Tobacco-Free Campus Policy stipulates that no use of tobacco products is allowed on any campus property. The policy covers all forms of tobacco, including smokeless (chew or dip), e-cigarettes, vaping, and vaping-related products. As a community, the University has adopted this policy to support a healthy working and living environment and general health and wellness for its students, faculty, staff, patients, and visitors. USA Choice & USA Select Plan Members: Call 1-888-768-7848 to obtain information about the Blue Cross Blue Shield - Quit for Life Program. The Program is provided at no cost to employees and covered spouses who want to stop using tobacco products and offers a 24-hour support hotline, customized phone counseling sessions and nicotine replacement patches, gum or lozenges.
Employee Assistance Program: The mission of the University of South Alabama Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is to provide support for employees who are experiencing personal concerns, which are impacting or have the potential to impact their work performance and quality of life. Counseling services are available to all benefits-eligible employees at no cost. EAP counseling visits are confidential, and support is provided in a variety of areas.
