Frequently Used Venues

The University of South Alabama has hosted thousands of events across campus, ranging from small meetings and large receptions to concerts and 5K races. We have beautiful spaces suitable to accommodate a whole variety of events. Below are just a few of our most popular venues.

Moulton Tower

The Moulton Tower is home to the Alumni Wall of Honor, where an unveiling event is held each year.  The Chi-Omega amphitheater seats up to 250 guests. There is also seating for up to 700 guests in an open, multipurpose activity space under the Tower.

Laidlaw Performing Arts Center

The Laidlaw Performing Arts Center is home to a 240-seat Recital Hall with superb acoustics,  as well as a beautiful and welcoming lobby located at the main entrance to the building. The Recital Hall is host to a multi-event Concert Series throughout the year.

Student Center Ballroom

The Student Center is the center of activity on the University of South Alabama campus. It is home to the Food Court, the USA Bookstore, and the USA Mail Hub. The Student Center Ballroom is host to Jags After Dark, House of Jags Fashion Show, the Part-Time Job Fair, and the Physician’s Assistant White Coat Ceremony each year. The Ballroom can be arranged for a variety of events: Theater Set seats 500; Banquet Rounds of 8 seats 325; Hollow Square seats 60; U-Shape Seats 54; and Classroom set seats 200.

John Counts Room at the Mitchell Center

The John Counts Room is home to many Banquet Functions, as well as meetings throughout the year, including the annual Commencement Luncheon. The John Counts room can be arranged for a range of different events: Banquet Rounds of 8 seats 150; Theater set seats 200; Hollow Square seats 60; U-Shape seats 50; and Classroom set seats 180.

Faculty Club

The Faculty Club is home to many events, including the Board of Trustees dinners. The Multi-Purpose room can be arranged a few different ways: Hollow Square seats 40; U-Shape seats 40; Fixed Furniture seats 72.

Student Center Terrace

The Student Center Terrace is host to the Homecoming Reunion Luncheon, as well as Honor Society Inductions each year. It has fixed rectangular tables of 6 and can seat up to 96 guests; it can also seat 100 in Theater Set.
