Commencement: Letter to Degree Candidates

The following list contains important information concerning your upcoming graduation:
DEGREE AUDIT: Please make sure you receive your final degree audit or check sheet from your College Advisor.
COMMENCEMENT: Instructions for each Commencement will be posted on the Registrar website at the beginning of the current term.
DIPLOMA NAME: The presentation of your name as chosen on the graduation application will be the name used on all official listings for graduation. This name will be read at commencement and printed in the commencement program. If you signed a confidentiality request, your name will not appear in the commencement program.
INVITATIONS: Graduation announcements may be ordered through Herff Jones.
ACADEMIC REGALIA: Regalia must be ordered from the university's approved vendor, Graduate Supply House, in order to participate in Commencement. For Spring and Summer graduation candidates (with the exception of Summer doctoral students) should visit the website here beginning in February for regalia order deadlines. Fall graduation candidates and Summer doctoral graduates should visit the website here beginning in September for the regalia order deadlines.
DIPLOMAS: Diplomas for Fall terms will be mailed 4 business weeks after Commencement, due to the university being closed 2 weeks for Christmas break. Diplomas for Spring terms will be mailed 2-4 business weeks after Commencement. If your diploma address changes after submitting your graduation application, please email graduation@southalabama.edu. In order to receive your diploma, all financial obligations must be cleared. Financial holds can be from various departments, not just Student Accounting. The degree (i.e, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Fine Arts) is the only academic information on the diploma. Majors and minors are listed on the transcript.
TRANSCRIPTS: Compliance with federal regulations requires your signature on all requests for transcripts from the University of South Alabama. This information is submitted to you so the issuance of any transcripts you request will not be delayed.
