Leigh Fountain, D.O.Leigh Fountain, D.O.

  • Hometown: Tampa Bay, baby!
  • Undergrad: Wake Forest University
  • Med school: Alabama COM
  • What do you like to do in Mobile? Dabble in karaoke, challenge my friends to
  • shuffleboard at Nixon's, hit up Hop Hounds brewery for dog playdates, rock climb at USA gym, keep adding more restaurants to my ever-growing list, and buy too many plants at local nurseries (most recently a Rangpur lime tree). I really want to start going to pottery classes soon!
  • What do you like best about our program? Not just my co-residents, but also the faculty and medical students are all so passionate about intersectional care. They're always brainstorming novel ways to improve patient and resident lives. I'm able to dip my feet into anything from projects in sexual health to community outreach with teens with ID, which is fully supported by my peers. If you express a goal or vision the faculty will jump at the opportunity to uplift it. The atmosphere is extremely friendly, even when giving constructive feedback, and I would genuinely hang out with anyone I work alongside. I can tell that even when people correct my mistakes (lets be real, I'm an intern) it is out of genuine desire to see me grown into the best provider I can be. I also came to an academic program in part because I find teaching to be extremely fulfilling and the medical students here are some of the most passionate and engaged that I've come across! All that to say... 10/10 atmosphere to learn and grow.
