Course description: A continuation of MA 535. Topics covered include sequences and series of functions,
differentiation and integration in several variables, an introduction to to the Lebesgue
integral and differential forms as time allows.
Prerequisites: C or better in MA 535
Suggested Texts: Mathematical Analysis, by Apostol, Addison Wesley Longman, 1974;
Real Mathematical Analysis, by Charles Chapman Pugh, Springer, 2nd Edition, 2015;
Real Analysis: Measure Theory, Integration, & Hilbert Spaces, by E. Stein and R. Shakarchi,
1st Edition, Princeton University Press, 2005;
Convex Analysis, by R.T. Rockafeller, Princeton University Press, 1970
Learning outcomes: Upon the successful completion of the course a student will gain an understanding
of the foundations of modern real analysis, and sufficient preparation for continuing
graduate studies in mathematics.
