Biosafety

The University of South Alabama College of Medicine Biosafety Committee meets as required
by the National Institutes of Health to discuss and categorize biohazardous work and
to formally register such work. The committee is responsible for the inventory, review
and approval of all biological hazards use and safety practices. Details for registering
biohazardous materials are contained in the USA College of Medicine Biosafety Manual
and appear as links on this site.
All work with biohazardous materials must be registered and approved with the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC). To initiate the review process, the principal investigator must submit an IBC registration form to the IBC Committee, using IRBNet.
All new IBC applications, amendments, and correspondence are now processed through IRBNet.
