Project GRIP Community Research Assistants
University of South Alabama faculty researchers have received a $1.8 million federal grant to collaborate with gun owners in devising strategies to reduce injury and death. The Project GRIP (gun-related injury prevention) research team is hiring three to five part-time community research assistants. The goal of Project GRIP is to understand people’s gun-related attitudes, behaviors, and practices and thoughts about how to prevent gun injuries, especially injuries that occur through suicide, homicide and assault.

Project GRIP is looking to add teammates who have experience as a gun owner OR who have lived in communities impacted by gun violence. The CRAs will help to recruit participants, develop interview questions, conduct interviews, and interpret findings. Pay is $25 an hour.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong verbal communication abilities and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to use recording equipment and electronic communication technologies (email, computers, word processing software).
- Personal transportation between project sites (mileage will be compensated).
