Relaxation Room
Purpose
Located in the University Counseling and Wellness Center, the Calm Waters Relaxation Room is a private, quiet space to develop and practice relaxation skills to enhance overall well-being. This is one space on campus to simply rest, breathe, and relax with no agenda. All USA students are welcome.

Availability & Policies
The room can be reserved for 30 min. sessions Monday & Wednesday from 10:00 am-5:00pm, Tuesday from 1:00 pm-5:00pm and Friday 10:00 am-2:00pm. Same day appointments may be available. Call to check current availability.
No food or drinks, other than water, are allowed within the relaxation room.
Workshops/Drop-in Sessions
Weekly Mindfulness and/or Stress Management workshops will be offered, led by Staff at UCWC. Staff will lead students through exercises to learn mindfulness skills for use in everyday life & to become familiar with the tools in the relaxation room. Workshops will be held every Thursday at 2:30 pm for 30 minutes. No sign-up required. Drop by our office on Thursdays to participate.
September 5th & 19th - Neurodivergent-Friendly Mindfulness
Offering the basics of Mindfulness skills for the Neurodiverse Community, this workshop creates a safe space to learn and practice mindfulness skills with the intention of enhancing our intuition while finding what works best for each individual.
September 12th & 26th – Adjustment to College Life: Self-Care for Students
Self-care includes all the regular activities and practices that help you maintain your well-being. Good self-care can help you manage the inevitable challenges of life, including the academic, social, and financial stress you’ll likely experience during college. Check out this workshop to explore ways to best support your adjustment to college.
October 3rd & 24th – Yoga to De-Stress
Yoga encourages mental and physical relaxation, which helps reduce stress and anxiety. The physical postures promote flexibility, relieve tension, and alleviate pain. Yoga poses may help you release physical blockages like muscle knots, helping release emotions and tension. Drop-in to tune out your day-to-day stressors by engaging in this 30-minute gentle yoga session.
October 17th & 31st – Mindful Meditations
Research has shown that mindful practice and meditation can have a variety of benefits, such as lower stress levels, improved mood, reduced anxiety, increased ability to cope with chronic pain, and relief from bereavement. This workshop is designed to facilitate hands-on mindfulness practice in students so they can experience its benefits and have a space to relax.
November 7th & 14th - Stress Less 101
Coping skills help you tolerate and relieve your daily stress while increasing resilience. Managing your stress well can help you be happier, healthier, and more productive while also improving your academic performance. Join this workshop to learn more tools for stress management.
