In order to strengthen security for REDCap accounts, Multi-Factor Authentication utilizing Duo Security has been enabled.

When logging in to REDCap, you will still enter your username and password. After inputting your login information, Duo requires you to complete a method of second-factor authentication.

What is REDCap?

REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) is an easy-to-use, secure, web-based application for capturing, using, and sharing research or performance improvement data. The University of South Alabama is a member of the REDCap consortium. Details about REDCap's general security features can be found at REDCap Technical Overview.

The USA Health System REDCap is hosted by health system servers and is approved for HIPAA compliant data capture including PHI.

REDCap access and support is provided by Charles M. Baugh Biomedical Library.

Requirements for REDCap

The USA Health System REDCap is primarily intended for faculty and staff of the University of South Alabama (USA), the USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute, the USA Health University Hospital and the USA Health Children's & Women's Hospital. Students can apply for access when affiliated with a sponsoring faculty member.

Human Subjects Research

If you are collecting data for the purpose of human subjects research, Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval is required. More information can be found at IRBNet.

The USA Health System REDCap allows for the collection of personal health information (PHI).

Meet the REDCap@USA Team

Clista Clanton, MSLS, is the Assistant Director for Strategic Initiatives at the Biomedical Library and leads the REDCap@USA team. She has championed offering REDCap as a resource for research and performance improvement projects at USA and USA Health since 2015, including leading the implementation of both instances of REDCap (Campus and USA Health) and the development of REDCap end user support services. She continues to provide strategic direction as use of REDCap grows within the institution.

Heather Hoven-Glass is the Library Engagement Manager at the Biomedical Library and has supported Campus REDCap users for over 6 years. As part of the REDCap@USA team, she consults on project design, provides assistance on project builds, and develops training materials. Jaime Koppersmith, MS, is the REDCap@USA Institutional Administrator for both the Campus and USA Health instances of REDCap. She manages REDCap@USA account creation, provides end user support, troubleshoots REDCap technical issues, consults on project design, provides assistance on project builds, and develops training materials.
