Counseling and Instructional Sciences Ph.D. Programs

The Department of Counseling and Instructional Sciences at the University of South Alabama offers a Ph.D. in Instructional Design and Development and Ph.D. in Clinical and Counseling Psychology. The Clinical and Counseling Psychology doctoral program is jointly administered by the Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Counseling and Instructional Sciences in the College of Education and Professional Studies.

Ph.D. in Instructional Design and Development

A Ph.D. in Instructional Design and Development provides students with a wide range of highly marketable skills and knowledge to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate instruction. While many Ph.D. graduates go on to teach at the college and university levels, students can also work in business and industry, the military, government, healthcare, P-12 settings, and private consulting.

Ph.D. in Clinical and Counseling Psychology

The Ph.D. in Clinical and Counseling Psychology doctoral program trains students from a combined and integrated model in the areas of clinical and counseling psychology leading to the Doctor of Philosophy degree. The program combines an asset-strength model from Counseling Psychology with a health psychology/wellness model from Clinical Psychology. The Clinical and Counseling Psychology program prepares professionals to provide the most effective and culturally sensitive types of psychological care for individuals and communities.
