Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work

The University of South Alabama Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs that prepare students for jobs in many professional settings. Undergraduate students can pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology or Bachelor of Social Work. Graduate students can pursue the Master of Arts in Sociology. Faculty members also teach in several associated interdisciplinary minors, including forensic science, gerontology, museum studies, Native American studies and religious studies.

Faculty members are committed to providing the highest quality instruction and advising. Students benefit from relationships forged by faculty who are actively engaged in community service. South offers supervised internships and field experiences with community partners in child welfare, healthcare/health disparities, aging, juvenile justice, environmental advocacy, historic preservation, and many other service areas.
