invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar to begin Summer 2025. A UNCW postdoctoral
scholar is a 12-month full-time temporary non-faculty position with a potential to
renew for up to 2 years.
The lab of Dr. Jessie Jarvis at the University of North Carolina Wilmington is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in the field of marine spatial ecology. Broadly, this candidate will work on an interdisciplinary and integrated project focusing on the analysis and synthesis of seagrass mapping (Tier 1) and monitoring (Tier 2) data. The project will incorporate aerial imagery and field data on percent cover and species composition to assess the spatial and temporal dynamics of SAV in the Albemarle-Pamlico Estuary. This integrated work will directly support APNEP's SAV Monitoring and Assessment Team (SAV MAT) objectives and contribute to ecosystem management and conservation strategies.
UNCW postdoctoral scholars gain important training and research experience through their relationship with the university in ways that support and fulfill the research, scholarship, and teaching missions of the institution. The primary responsibility of the postdoctoral scholars is to conduct research and, upon initial appointment, may provide oversight of research projects and personnel, project management, assistance in the development and writing of proposals and manuscripts, data acquisition, higher-level interpretation of computational results, and comprehensive data analysis. These activities may be carried out in both field and laboratory settings.
The UNCW postdoctoral scholar will develop an Individual Development Plan (IDP) in coordination with their faculty mentor, (insert name). They may also participate in professional development programming offered through the University.
The candidate should have experience in spatial ecology with a successful publication record, demonstrated experience in integrated spatial, temporal and analyses of ecological datasets, and proficiency in GIS and statistical software (e.g., R, Python, or similar).

Mississippi State University – Thad Cochran National Warmwater Aquaculture Center (TCNWAC), part of the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, invites applications for the position of Assistant Research Professor specializing in the areas of aquatic biology, limnology, environmental/water quality in commercial aquaculture systems at the Delta Research and Extension Center (DREC) in Stoneville. This is a 12-month tenure-track position that will have an on-campus academic affiliation with the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Aquaculture (WFA). The ideal candidate should possess a robust and productive background in aquatic sciences and/or limnology with a special emphasis on water quality in managed aquaculture systems.
Requirements
1. Earned a Ph.D. in aquatic sciences, aquaculture, limnology, or fisheries science
with a special emphasis in water quality and ecology (all but degree’s [ABDs] will
be considered).
2. A background in engaging with external stakeholder groups is highly desirable.
3. Applicant must be an individual who is exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and possesses a proven track record of impactful research within the realm of limnology/water quality, as evidenced by relevant publications.
4. Demonstrate proficiency in various laboratory and field techniques, chemistry, ecology, appropriate quantitative analysis, and application of research to management scenarios.
5. The successful candidate must exhibit a high level of collaboration and teamwork, with a documented record of securing extramural support and scholarly achievements.
Preferred qualifications include excellent written and oral communication skills, a potential to secure extramural funding, a history of publications, and a desire to mentor students. The successful candidate should be interested in establishing robust academic and research connections and be well-positioned to leverage opportunities in water quality, aquatic biology, limnology, and environmental toxicology management through collaborative efforts with various departments on and off campus, and with other organizations (USDA-ARS, other Universities, etc.).
Job Summary:
We are seeking an Aquaculture Technician to support daily operations at our Walsenburg facility, specializing in Rainbow Trout production within an integrated aquaponics system. The technician will assist with fish husbandry, water quality monitoring, system maintenance, and harvest operations to ensure optimal fish health and system efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor fish health, growth rates, and feeding schedules.
Conduct routine water quality testing and system adjustments.
Perform stocking, grading, and harvesting.
Maintain and troubleshoot RAS components, including pumps, filters, and aeration systems.
Keep detailed records of water parameters, fish health, and feed usage.
Follow biosecurity and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
Experience in aquaculture, fisheries, or related fields preferred specific to species.
Knowledge of RAS and water quality management is a plus.
Ability to perform hands-on tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends if needed.

Stranding Biologist:
General Duties: The Stranding Biologist will work with the Stranding Program Manager, contract veterinarians, staff, students, interns and volunteers to enhance reporting and response efforts for marine mammal strandings; collect consistent, high-quality data that are used to determine causes of strandings and death; support research projects; and engage in public education and outreach. Specifically, the position will help monitor a 24-hour stranding hotline; assist with and lead field stranding response; collect, archive and inventory samples; lead and participate in necropsies; manage data and documentation, including writing reports; maintain equipment and ensure safe and clean lab conditions; assist with public outreach activities and volunteer coordination; contribute to research projects, conduct data mining, and data analyses.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: BS degree in biology, marine science, wildlife biology, or other relevant field.
Minimum previous experience: 1 yr of experience in a related field
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record;
- Applicant is required to obtain an Alabama vessel license and
- complete a DISL boating safety class, and
- should be willing to obtain a hazardous materials shipping certification within 6 months of employment.
- Occasional out-of-state and overnight travel required.

The position is full-time for 1-year, with the possibility of extension based on funding and performance. Pay is competitive and will be commensurate with experience.
Supervision: The Stranding Biologist will be directly supervised by the Stranding Programs Manager in collaboration with the MMRP Director.

Friends of Pando, is working and dedicated to educating the public, supporting research and preservation efforts, and inspiring stewardship of the Pando Tree, the largest tree in the world. An official partner to Fishlake National Forest, our organization undertakes work to protect, monitor and restore this unique tree to ensure it can be enjoyed by generations to come. Our organization is seeking a candidate for a part-time, flexible role helping us improve management and protection of Pando through remote sensing projects. The candidate will work with the team to develop strategies and protocols to leverage LiDar data sets to better understand and monitor the tree’s health over time. While this is a part/flexible opportunity, this project also carries potential for publication credits on remote sensing on a natural subject known the world over.
Responsibilities

and shape files
