Take a Service Learning Course
The National Service Learning Clearing House defines Service Learning as “a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility and strengthen communities.”
Taking a Service Learning Course:
Many departments at USA offer courses with Service Learning components. These courses offer an opportunity to apply classroom content to a short or long term community based project. Students are encouraged to speak with their advisor about opportunities to take Service Learning courses within their course of study.
Connecting to the National Network:
“The Service Learning Network is an online community of more than 5,000 youth and adult members who have discovered how they can change the world through service-learning. The GSN is the leading resource for fast and easy sharing, service-learning professional development, and networking.” USA students can join the network for free.
