Undergraduate Students: Study Entrepreneurship at the Mitchell College of Business

▼   Why choose Entrepreneurship as a Concentration?
Entrepreneurship is the key to economic growth for the United States and the Mobile region. The Entrepreneurship concentration is designed to create an “innovation” focused mindset that produces entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial leaders in ALL sectors of the society including: starting businesses, working in financing careers, innovative educators, franchise owners, economic development officials and social entrepreneurs. The concentration allows students to choose a combination of courses that best match their interests and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Complete 200- & 300-Level Business Core Courses

Complete the PREP Courses

Take the following four (4) courses:
MGT 345 Creativity and Innovation
MGT 355 Legal and Financial Aspects of Entrepreneurship
MGT 465 New Venture Creation
MGT 483 Social Entrepreneurship
and choose two (2) courses from the following:
MGT 347 Franchising
MKT 350 Digital Marketing
FIN 370 Short-Term Financial Management
MGT 356 Strategic Issues in Family Business 
MKT 381 Sales Management & Personal Selling  
MGT 462 Negotiation and Dispute Resolution in Business
Complete two (2) Business electives
Complete MGT 485 and 486

Entrepreneurship Concentration students will have opportunities to work as interns in the Melton Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, as well as for a number of businesses in the region. Student aptitudes and interests will be matched with internship availability on an individual basis. A number of annual scholarships are also available to students studying entrepreneurship.
▼   Study Abroad Opportunities
Consistent with the University’s priorities, the Mitchell College of Business offers a range of international study opportunities for its students in various regions of the world. Options include semester-long study abroad experiences in fall and spring semesters and shorter-term options, such as faculty-led short-term courses, usually offered in the Maymester or summer.  For further details, please contact the MCOB Director of International Studies.
