Resume Resources

Resumes are a very important aspect of a successful job search and will often determine whether you receive a call for an interview. A general resume can be submitted for any position, but we recommend you tailor your resume to each job posting. To help you, we've compiled resources and templates based on feedback from employers.

To help you get started, here are examples and checklists:

Resume Tips

Top 10 Guidelines:

A resume should be professional, easy to read, and concise.

Highlight your most relevant experiences, not your entire job history.

Tailor your resume to a specific job or industry.

Body text size should be between 10-12 point, and the font should be traditional and easy to read (Ex. Arial, Times New Roman, Calibri).

Avoid multiple columns, unusual formatting, and colored typing throughout your resume.

Resumes SHOULD NOT exceed one page unless your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications require more space.

Run Spellcheck and/or Grammarly and carefully proofread.

Optimize your text by including key words from the job post in your resume.

Use strong action words, numbers, and metrics to demonstrate results. For example, use words such as "achieved" and "designed".
