FML Intermittent

▼   An employee is approved for intermittent FML. Does the employee need to call in for each absence?

Yes. The employee needs to follow your department’s call-in procedures (e.g., when to call, whom to call) for intermittent or unplanned absences. Make certain that these rules are known and consistently applied to everyone. However, it may be necessary to document the reason for the absence such as the employee was absent for an FML reason and not some other reason. If the employee develops a new medical condition that will result in additional absences from work, Human Resources may need to seek certification of the new condition to determine if FML will apply. Contact Human Resources should this situation occur.
