Inactivating a Course
Inactivating a course removes it from the bulletin course listing and makes it unavailable as a selection in CourseLeaf CAT. A record of an inactive course remains in Banner. Courses that have not been offered for some time and which a department does not plan to offer again should be inactivated. Remember that if a course is not inactivated, students can see it in the bulletin, and may be waiting to take it without knowing that there is no plan to offer it again.
To inactivate a course, first select the course from the Program Inventory screen, and then select the red “Inactivate” button:
The resulting screen will request an end term and a reason for the request. Once this is complete, start workflow.
After a course is inactivated, make sure to adjust any program requirements that may have listed the course, or any other courses that listed it as a pre-requisite or co-requisite. Inactivated course numbers may not be re-used for ten years.
