Synergistic Activities

Mr. Barnett has advised K-20 education for over 30 years as an industry expert, encompassing K-12, vocational and university level institutions.

As President of Omniphone and Public Sector Technologies, he brought up billing systems for BellSouth, SouthWestern Bell, Ameritech and other PSTN Service Providers, while providing COOP services for security validation support systems.

Mr. Barnett has external funding from the Alabama Innovation Fund, National Science Foundation, Justice Department (administered by the NSF), National Security Agency, Department of Defense, and the Mobile County Commission.

Mr. Barnett has a five year Education Collaboration Agreement through his Center (CFITS) with the Aviation Missile Research Development Engineering Center at Redstone Arsenal (renewed through 2022).

Mr. Barnett has a five year Education Partnership Agreement through his Center (CFITS) with the National Security Agency (through 2025).

Mr. Barnett currently sits on the Industry Advisory Board of Baker, Davidson, Mary G. Montgomery and Vigor High schools.

Mr. Barnett also serves on the Alabama Educational Television Commission, the USA School of Computing Industry Advisory Board (chair), the Alabama Forest Owner’s Association (past President), NFIB Alabama Leadership Council (past President).

Mr. Barnett serves on the Mobile County Republican Executive Committee, and its steering Committee, the Alabama Republican Executive Committee, and its steering Committee, where he was elected as a United States Presidential Elector from Alabama for the 2012 Presidential Election, and is the First Congressional District Chairman.

Mr. Barnett has served the Mobile County Probate Court as a poll worker for over 20 years, and currently serves as an Inspector.
