Leadership and Teacher Education Graduate Programs

The Department of Leadership and Teacher Education offers multiple Master of Education (M.Ed.) and Instructional Specialist (Ed.S.) degree programs. Students can also earn the Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership. Some of the below programs offer multiple online courses, and some programs are fully online. Elementary Education Graduate Program

Students can choose from the Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Elementary Education (Online), Alternative Master of Education (Alt. M.Ed.) in Elementary Education, Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Elementary Education with Reading Certification, and Instructional Specialist (Ed.S.) in Elementary Education.

Early Childhood Education Graduate Program

The Early Childhood Education Graduate Program prepares students for initial certification or advanced degree options for working in grades PK-3. Students can choose from the Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Early Childhood Education (Online), Alternative Master of Education ( Alt. M.Ed.) in Early Childhood Education, Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Early Childhood Education with Reading Certification, and Instructional Specialist (Ed.S.) in Early Childhood Education.

Secondary Education Graduate Program

The Secondary Education Graduate Program prepares students to work in grades 6-12 in specific content areas. Initial certification or advanced degree options are available. Choose from the Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Secondary Education with Class A Certification, Alternative Master of Education (Alt. M.Ed.), and Instructional Specialist (Ed.S.) in Secondary Education with Class AA Professional Certification.

Collaborative K-12 Education Graduate Program

The Collaborative K-12 Education Graduate Program prepares students to work in Special Education at either the elementary or secondary level. Initial certification or advanced degree options are available. Choose from the Traditional Collaborative  Teaching M.Ed. (Online Program), Alternative Collaborative Teaching M.Ed. (Online Program), and Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) in Collaborative Teaching.

Educational Leadership Graduate Programs

Programs include the Master of Educational Leadership for P-12 Administrators, Master of Educational Leadership for Higher Education Administration (Online), School Leadership Certificate Programs for P-12 Administrators, Instructional Specialist's Degree (Ed.S.) for P-12 Administrators, and the Doctorate in Educational Leadership with tracks P-12 Leadership and Higher Education Leadership.

Reading Education Graduate Program

The Reading Education Graduate Program prepares students to work in P-12 programs while receiving advanced degrees in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education. There is also an option to add a Reading certification to an existing master’s degree.

TEFL/TESL Graduate Certificate Program

The University of South Alabama offers a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)/ Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) graduate certificate program. Students in any graduate degree program can take additional courses to earn the certificate.
