We understand it can be challenging to navigate the COVID-19 public health crisis as it relates to your immigration status. We are here to support you!

Please continue to let us know if you have any other questions or concerns. As new announcements and immigration resources develop, this page will be updated with relevant information.

Note: Please carefully review the CDC guidelines, and USA Updates on Coronavirus before you decide to travel - whether domestic or international.

▼   Due to COVID-19, my department is transitioning to telecommuting. Can I telecommute?

Due to the unusual circumstances of the COVID-19 outbreak, it is permitted within certain parameters. If you have questions about your specific circumstances, please contact the Office of Immigration so we can better advise you.

▼   I am a J-1 scholar. Can I travel and get a travel signature?

Please carefully review the CDC guidelines and South Alabama guidelines before you decide to travel - whether domestically or internationally. If you choose to leave the U.S., please closely monitor the entry requirements related to COVID-19 for your destination country abroad. Permission from the head of your department and the Office of Immigration must also be had before travel arrangements are made.

Currently, USA Main Campus faculty and staff are working remotely from home and the main campus is closed. To maintain safe social distancing, we will not be able to meet you in person. If you need a travel signature on your DS-2019, don’t worry. You can simply reach out to your Immigration Manager when you are ready to return to the U.S. They will send you instructions on how to have a new DS-2019 signed for re-entry mailed to you. You do not need a travel signature if you are staying in the U.S.
