Without Approval for Spring Break Extension

We understand that the events of the past few days have been challenging and we appreciate your flexibility as we work together during this time of national crisis. We are writing to give you an update regarding closing of the residence halls for the spring semester. 

Knowing that face-to-face classes will not resume this spring, we are asking students to schedule a time to check-out in a staggered format to encourage social distancing. There will be limited times available daily, including weekends, for students to check-out of the residence halls. Please understand that we are doing our best to follow CDC guidance regarding social distancing while allowing students to return to campus and remove their belongings.

We are allowing students to schedule times daily beginning March 24 through May 8. 

Checking out of your room includes the following:

• Make an appointment to return to campus
• Remove all of your belongings from your room
• Return your room key to the Delta Commons

Upon scheduling a time to check-out, you will receive a confirmation email as approval to return to campus. 

Important Information Prior to Arrival: 

Please have your university ID available as it may be requested when you arrive on campus.  Also, please be aware that there are currently only two campus entrances open at this time – South Drive and Jaguar Blvd. (formally Stadium Drive).

Again, we understand this is certainly a challenging time for everyone. If you have specific housing questions, we encourage you to email housing@southalabama.edu.

Check-Out Instructions: 

Students should schedule a check-out time between March 24 and May 8. All check-outs must be completed no later than Friday, May 8th, 2020. We ask that students only return to campus during their approved check-out time.

Students who have additional questions about the check-out process should contact their community office. 

Please follow the steps below to complete the residence-hall check-out:

• Step 1: Schedule a check-out time by clicking your designated community below.

  • A limited number of check-out time slots will be available per day per community. 

•  Step 2: An express check-out form and envelope has been placed in your room. Please complete the entire express check-out form as directed.

• Step 3: Place the completed express check-out form and your room key inside the provided envelope. Please be sure to seal the envelope.

• Step 4: Take your envelope to the Delta Commons building and place it in the designated key drop slot.

  • The key drop location will be on the side of Delta Commons building closest to Camellia Hall (same building as the Delta Deli). Look for the yellow signage that will indicate the drop off location.
