FAFSA Reevaluation

Southpaw in a car with the text Federal Financial Aid Re-evaluation

South recognizes the impact of COVID-19 on our Jaguar Family. Because the FAFSA uses income information from two years prior, federal student aid offers may not truly reflect your current circumstances.

If you have experienced financial changes since you last filled out the FAFSA you have the opportunity to discuss a recalibration. Changes in income may have altered your eligibility for the Pell Grant or other aid.

Detours don't have to derail you

The Department of Education allows the Office of Financial Aid to conduct Income Re-Evaluations, taking the following into consideration:

        • Parent or student income/job loss;
        • Death of parent or spouse since taxes were filed;
        • Medical, dental, or nursing home expenses not covered by insurance.

Is your EFC currently zero?

This process would not be for you because you are already receiving the maximum amount of the Pell Grant.

Is your current household income significantly lower than what was reported on your FAFSA?

Depending on how much your household income has decreased, you may qualify for more Federal Financial Aid. Please call USA One Stop at (251) 341-4USA to discuss your specific situation.

Have you recently incurred medical, dental, or nursing home expenses not covered by insurance?

Depending on your specific circumstances, you may qualify for more Federal Financial Aid. Please call USA One Stop at (251) 341-4USA to discuss your specific situation.

Steps to complete the Re-evaluation Process:

1. Log into the Verification Portal using your JagNet credentials;
2. Confirm your 4 key identifiers from your 2022-2023 FAFSA (first name, last name, date of birth and social security number);
3. Click the +/- Request box in the upper right hand corner of the page and select the blue plus sign for Family Contribution Appeal for 2022-2023.
4. Complete the Web Form and upload documentation to support your circumstances.

Appeals will be reviewed within 7-14 business days once all documentation has been submitted. Notification of your appeal decision will be sent to your JagMail.
