Office of Diversity and Inclusion

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion serves the communities of the College of Medicine and USA Health through the activities described within this site.

The Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine at the University of South Alabama is a diverse community. Belonging to, learning from and contributing to this community are all vital activities that promote excellence. We strive to assure that everyone has an equitable place and belongs in all activities within our community as we simultaneously nurture a culture that allows diversity to thrive. Our core functions include education, research and service. Each function is better when the unique life experiences, talents and attributes of every person are valued and incorporated.

We recognize that diversity includes individuals of diverse race, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious beliefs, age, disability, veteran status, cultural backgrounds, socioeconomic status and many other qualities. We recognize that most individuals bring more than one aspect of diversity to our community. We value the richness that each area of diversity, singly and in combination, brings to our activities. We continually seek opportunities and processes that will best incorporate every individual’s ability to belong to, learn from and contribute to our community.

The Whiddon College of Medicine understands that we are better when there is space at the table for everyone.
